RAF Marham & RAF Lakenheath

Whilst the weather was nice, we decided to head to Norfolk, and visit RAF Marham as we hadn't been before, as well as stop off at RAF Lakenheath to hopefully see some quick climbs on the Friday before heading home. At Marham, there were 6 EF-18s from the Spanish Air Force taking part in Ramstein Flag 2025

We first went to Marham to see some of the Spanish depart, and 3 of them ended up going up, along with 2 of the RAF's F-35B. Just as we arrived though, 2x F-35Bs were incoming to approach but due to the heat haze the images weren't usable.

Unfortunately, the Spanish EF-18s had to return only 20 minutes after they had departed, but we had already headed to our house so we missed them. We then went back out to see them depart for the evening sorties of RF25, and 4 of them headed out, and we also got to see a vertical landing by one the F-35Bs on the pads.

The next day, we had visited RSPB Lakenheath Fen to hopefully catch a Kingfisher or Bittern; unfortunately we didn't see either but I think I could hear one booming in the distance! Whilst we were near we headed to grab a burger from the Lakenheath Viewing Area and see some of the lunch-time departures!

Finally, on Friday morning, we left out house to arrive at RAF Lakenheath for 7:00am, listening in to the ATIS which confirmed that Runway 23 was going to be in use, so we headed to the fields on the 05 side and waited for the quick climbs to (hopefully) occur! Not long after, quite a few F-35s came and rumbled away above us, but then it went quiet for a while. Some F-15s with the 'BOLAR' callsigns had started and went to the end of RW23, however it turned out to be families day for the 492nd, so they got to do something called 'Fast Taxiing'. The three Aviano F-16s then appeared, but the 'Operation Bolo' tail had tech issues leaving the other two to perform some quick climbs. Finally some F-15s from the 494th 'Panthers' had requested on the radio for some quick climbs and some they came, but with 1 having gear problems and dumping some fuel towards us! We later went round to the forest entrance to catch whatever what still out as they came in to land.
